Continuing Education Projects

Some of our neighborhood youth desire to continue their education, and we are here to support them as they prepare for careers and adulthood.

Graduates of the Mano Amiga BZ Student Center who have received assistance in our Continuing Education program have been launched into the working community.

The student who received assistance with earning a Certificate in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration from Cayo Centre for Employment Training was subsequently employed by one of the area’s largest resorts, Chaa Creek Resorts, as a highly valued technician in the setup, care, maintenance and repair of air conditioners, refrigeration, and other equipment maintenance required by a high-end resort. https://www.chaacreek.com/

The student who received assistance to obtain her Certification in Cosmetology is setting up her nail salon in Benque Viejo del Carmen. Donors paid her tuition for schooling, and she has been free-lancing manicures, pedicures, and hair styling for the past year to help pay for supplies and additional specialty workshops. The student who received tuition for bar-tending school graduated with experience in making drinks, interacting with the public and confidence in himself. As a result, although he didn’t proceed with bartending, he secured a high-responsibility job as motorcycle Ranger with FCD, Friends for Conservation and Development, a non-profit organization committed to preserving the natural beauty and biodiversity of Belize. His job consists of patrolling Cooma Cairn (Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve) and dealing with illegal firearm use, trespass, and the protection of the environment. https://www.fcdbelize.org/

Other students will be graduating from our Student Center in the near future and we hope to help them get a strong foothold on the careers of their choice.
