Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Most charities and service organizations reserve a sizable chunk of donations to pay overhead costs like travel, office expenses, etc. What percentage does Mano Amiga Belize spend on overhead?

A.  100% of your donation goes directly to support the students or projects. All labor, fuel, transportation, website, office and other expenses are donated or performed by volunteers.   It doesn’t get any better than that!

Q. I want to donate, but I don’t have a Paypal account. How can I donate online?

A. Complete the donation form on our page, and when directed to PayPal.com, click on Pay with Debit or Credit Card. This allows you access to a Guest Checkout to use your regular credit or debit card, which requires no PayPal account. Here’s what it looks like:

When you click on “Pay with Debit or Credit Card”  as shown in Fig. 1., it takes you to Fig. 2, where you can pay without having a PayPal Account.

Q. I would rather pay with a check or a direct bank deposit. How can I do that?

A. Contact Renie at irene@natureworkspress.com for instructions.

Q. On the Mano Amiga Scholarship Donate page I see a connection to Nature Works Press.  How is Nature Works Press connected to Mano Amiga Belize?

A. Because Mano Amiga Belize is not a registered NGO, Nature Works Press, which was Renie’s original business website (and still is) provides the online platform for the projects. The money you donate goes directly to the projects you indicate, and Nature Works Press is not involved with any other aspect of the process.

Q. What is the best way to contact Renie?

A.  You can contact us by email at manoamigabz@gmail.com, or you can leave a comment on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ManoAmigaBZ/

Q. Where can I learn more about projects Mano Amiga Belize is working on or considering?

A. We will be posting progress on our projects and ideas for future projects on our Facebook page. If you have ideas or suggestions, we’d love to see you post them there.

Q. I want to sponsor a family, a student or a project. What’s most important?

A. Priorities change as needs become apparent. So drop us an email at manoamigabz@gmail.com and we’ll get right back to you with the most critical needs at that time.

Q. I used to donate to Belize Scholarships, which changed to Waterhole Scholarships recently. Did Mano Amiga Belize take over Waterhole Scholarships?

A. Mano Amiga Belize absorbed Waterhole Scholarships into our community service group with the new name of Mano Amiga Scholarships to make donations and record-keeping simpler. Everything else is the same as it was in the past, as we help the same students by paying their school tuitions and assisting with school supply expenses.

Q. Can I adopt a primary school student to provide funds for a scholarship and supplies?

A. At the moment, we need to spread our limited donations out over more than twenty primary school students to make sure each family has enough money to send its children to school.  However, when our high school students graduate from high school, many of them are in desperate need of help to continue their education so that they can get a job out in the community. Without sponsorship, it is difficult or impossible for them to move forward. You can find students who need sponsorship by clicking on Projects in the menu above.
